In a heartbreaking incident in Gusau, Zamfara State, six family members, including a couple and their four children, have tragically lost their lives after being struck by a tipper truck.

The police public relations officer for the Zamfara State Command, SP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the fatalities, stating that the victims included the parents and their four children. While the specific genders of the children were not disclosed, the loss of an entire family in such a manner has left the community in shock.

“We have detained the driver involved in the incident, and an investigation is underway,” SP Abubakar said. “Once our inquiries are complete, we will share our findings, but for now, I can only confirm the occurrence and the number of casualties.”

Reports indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle, colliding with an oncoming motorcycle carrying the family. Eyewitnesses described the scene as devastating, with all six victims pronounced dead at the scene.

“It was a heart-wrenching sight to witness the entire family perishing in this tragic way. I was overcome with emotion when I saw the lifeless bodies of the father, mother, and their four children,” one witness recounted.

Concerns were raised regarding the condition of the tipper truck’s brakes, with witnesses suggesting that if they had been adequately maintained, the driver might have been able to avert the disaster. “Many of the tippers in our area are not equipped with functioning brakes,” one observer noted.
