Former President Donald Trump is reportedly safe after gunshots were heard “in his vicinity“ on Sunday, as confirmed by his campaign. The campaign‘s communications director, Steven Cheung, stated, “President Trump is safe,” but offered no additional details.
The Secret Service also acknowledged the situation, noting they are looking into a „protective incident“ involving Trump that occurred shortly before 2:00 PM EST (7:00 PM BST). The BBC has contacted both the US Secret Service and Trump‘s campaign for more information.
This incident follows closely after an assassination attempt two months ago, where a gunman targeted Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, resulting in a shot that grazed his ear.
