Supermodel and TV host Tyra Banks has filed a defamation lawsuit against Netflix, accusing the streaming giant of heavily manipulating her interview in a recent docuseries.

The lawsuit, filed on Saturday, June 13, 2026, claims that producers of the documentary Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model used only 16 minutes of a three-hour interview. Banks alleges that Netflix used selective editing and deliberate omissions to create a false narrative that damages her reputation.

According to the legal documents, the documentary implies that Banks ignored a serious safety incident involving a contestant on her reality show and later forgot about it. Banks strongly denies the claims, stating in her lawsuit that she had no knowledge of the specific allegations made by the contestant before filming the interview, and that the editing made her look deliberately indifferent.

“The implication is devastating and deliberate: that Tyra Banks cannot even remember the story of the woman who was assaulted on her show.”

Banks also stated that she was not given access to the completed docuseries until one day before its premiere on February 16, 2026, after promotional campaigns were already running. Additionally, she claims Netflix used her image on promotional materials and soundtrack art without her permission.
