UCL: Álvarez Guides Atlético To Quarterfinals First-Leg Advantage Over Barcelona

Julián Álvarez and Alexander Sørloth were the heroes as Atlético Madrid triumphed over a ten-man Barcelona, securing a 2-0 victory in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

Lamine Yamal also showed promise, yet his late, intricate run through the Atlético box ultimately ended without reward, as the undermanned Barcelona struggled to regain their footing in the match.

This defeat marked Barcelona’s first loss in 26 home encounters against Atlético since 2006, while Diego Simeone’s side celebrated their first away victory over Spanish opposition in the Champions League.
