Former Nigerian international Ifeanyi Udeze believes Femi Azeez has shown enough quality to become an important player for the Super Eagles following his eye-catching Unity Cup debut.
The Millwall forward announced himself in style during Nigeria’s 2-0 semi-final victory over Zimbabwe, delivering a lively display and scoring twice to leave fans and pundits excited about his potential.
Azeez’s energetic performance has sparked fresh optimism about Nigeria’s attacking options, and Udeze is among those convinced the youngster has much more to offer.
Speaking on Brila FM, the former PAOK defender praised the attacker’s movement, work rate and confidence on the ball.
“I watched Azeez against Zimbabwe, and I was really delighted with the way he played,” Udeze said.
“He was everywhere and gave Zimbabwe some nightmares.”
The former Super Eagles defender urged the youngster to maintain his impressive standard and prove himself again when Nigeria face Jamaica in the Unity Cup final.
“I want to see more of this performance against Jamaica and in subsequent matches that the Super Eagles will play,” he added.
Azeez now has an opportunity to strengthen his claim for a regular place in Éric Chelle’s squad as Nigeria prepare for a busy international schedule.
Following the Unity Cup, the Super Eagles will take part in high-profile international friendlies during the June 2026 FIFA window, facing Poland on 3 June at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw before taking on World Cup-bound Portugal on 10 June.
