The materials include books, computers and electronic gadgets, which are aimed at improving access to quality education.

While presenting the items to the Kano state students at the open arena of the Kano state government house, Officer-in-Charge, UNICEF Field Office Kano, Mr. Michael Banda, said the materials symbolise hope, opportunity, and a brighter future for all children in Kano State.

He says, “Education is a fundamental right, and we believe that every child, especially those left far behind, deserves access to quality learning materials and stimulating learning environments.

“UNICEF and development partners working hand in hand with the state government of Kano in the education sector are committed to supporting governments, schools, and communities in promoting education for all.

“These books and electronic gadgets are a testament to our partnership and shared commitment to improving learning outcomes,” he stated.

However, he urged the government to ensure timely replenishment of the materials so as not to compromise the quality of learning outcomes in the state.

While calling on the students to utilise the knowledge gained from the materials to shape their future, Mr. Banda urged educators to use these items to inspire creativity, critical thinking, and a love for learning among children.

In his welcome remarks, Governor Abba Yusuf thanked UNICEF and other partners for their commitment to supporting the state’s education sector.

He noted that their contributions have been instrumental in shaping the future of Kano’s children. The governor also awarded UNICEF for its support of the state.
