There were fruits and vegetables scattered about the road side. Some men in a group raising up their voices and gesturing angrily towards the fire. “Maimuna, what is happening?” Altine asked in shock. I shrugged, “I don’t know, let’s find out.” However, Altine was not so keen on the idea, “Maimuna, please let’s be on our way what if it’s some sort of riot?”

She asked in an alarmed voice. But you know me, I would not let it be. I drove on and took the next turn and over the flyover bridge to arrive at where it was all happening. There were some commercial bike men popularly known as ‘Okada’ by the road side looking for customers and I decided to ask them in Hausa what had been going on. The first man I asked was reluctant to answer as he gave me a wary look.
