Urban Renewal: Bauchi Compensates Owners Of Properties Demolished For Road Project

Bauchi State government has commenced the payment of compensation to 69 property owners whose structures are affected by the proposed Ilelah-Kobi Road construction project in the state capital.

The exercise, carried out by the state Ministry of Works, aims to ensure a smooth take-off of the project while providing fair compensation to the affected residents before construction begins.

The permanent secretary of the ministry, Muhammed Hamisu Garba, said the exercise was in line with Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed’s urban renewal agenda, which seeks to bridge infrastructure gaps and improve road connectivity across the Bauchi metropolis.

Garba commended the affected residents for their understanding and cooperation, noting that adequate notice had been given to enable the property owners to vacate the affected areas before construction commenced.

On behalf of the community, Abubakar Ladan Tambari described the compensation process as transparent, fair and well organised. He commended the state government for its commitment to due process and urged the residents to continue supporting its development initiatives.

One of the beneficiaries, Musa Yakubu Abubakar, also lauded the government for the prompt payment of compensation, expressing optimism that the road project would enhance transportation, boost commercial activities and contribute to the overall development of Bauchi State.
