US Judge Temporarily Overturns White House Media Ban

A United States Federal District Court has ordered the Trump administration to temporarily restore White House press access for CNN, MS NOW, and Politico following a ban issued last week.

Judge Timothy Kelly issued a 14-day temporary restraining order, ruling that the administration’s revocation of the news organizations’ press passes likely violated their constitutional due process rights.

The three media outlets filed a lawsuit after their reporters were stripped of their credentials and barred from the White House grounds.

In defense of the ban, the Trump administration argued that the outlets published false information and posed a national security risk. However, the court rejected these claims, stating that the administration failed to provide factual evidence showing that the reporters’ access endangered national security.

Following the ruling, Ted Boutrous, legal counsel for the news organizations, described the decision as a vindication of press freedom, due process, and the rule of law.

The White House has not yet issued an official comment on the ruling, and legal representatives for the administration may pursue further legal action as litigation continues.
