Prof. Uyiosa Akpata has been reelected as President of the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) for a second four-year term. He was reelected unopposed in an election held on Saturday at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, amidst strict security. He received a total of 47 votes out of the 47 cast, thus retaining his position.

Wale Obalola from Kwara State was also elected unopposed as Vice President of the Federation.

The zonal representatives elected are Chika Okoro (South East), Tayo Atoloye (South West), Usman Ladan (North West), Olufemi John (South South), Oludare Ayimola (North Central), and Zainab Ishaku Adamu (North East). Chief Emeka Onyeama, the former president of the Federation, failed in his bid to return to the board as the North Central representative, losing to Oludare Ayimola by two votes to five.

In his acceptance speech, Prof. Akpata commended the National Sports Commission (NSC) for their oversight and support for the Federation. He stated that his administration aims to implement a “10-10 agenda” focusing on regional development and the elevation of the country’s national teams to the top 20 rankings in the world.
