Uyo Varsity Elevates 2 Female Professors To Deputy Vice Chancellors

As the 9th substantive vice chancellor, Prof. Christopher Nyong Ekong, assumed duty at the University of Uyo (UNIUYO), two female professors have been recommended to work with him as deputy vice chancellors (DVCs).

They are Enobong Ikpeme, slated for the position of DVC Administration, and Ini Uko, who is expected as the DVC Academics.

The resolution was reached by the Senate of the institution at its 140th  Senate meeting yesterday at the institution’s Nwaniba, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State main campus.

“Yes, after extensive deliberations, a decision was reached for some tested and experienced academic professionals to assist our newly appointed,9th substantive Vice Chancellor, Prof. Christopher Nyong Ekong, in their respective positions as DVCs.

“The Senators arrived at the choices of Profs Enobong Ikpeme and Ini Uko, based on their proven track – records in academic excellence, administration and research experiences over the years.

“They have both been recommended to the Governing Council for ratification as DVCs ,” one of the Senators disclosed to our Correspondent immediately after the meeting.
