Vacant Stool: Royal Family Presents Ganiyu Onikoyi As Oba-elect

The Dosunmu Onikoyi Royal Ruling House has presented Prince Abdul Ganiyu Omotayo Adeniran Onikoyi as its candidate to be appointed as Onikoyi of Ikoyi and Imoba Land.

The secretary of the Dosunmu Onikoyi Ruling House, Prince Ademola Ajasa Onikoyi, disclosed this at a press briefing to formally present Prince Ganiyu as the family’s choice as the next Oba of Ikoyi and Imoba land, held at the Family House, Enuowa, Idumota, Lagos Island.

According to Ajass Onikoyi, Ganiyu Onikoyi, was elected after polling six of the eight votes among the eight family lineages for the preferred candidate.

Giving details of how Ganiyu was picked, he said, “For the purpose of selection of just one of the six aspirants to be the next Oba Onikoyi from the legally bounded Dosunmu Onikoyi Royal Ruling House, the head of each of the eight lineages bound to form the elders’ forum.

“Each head was mandated to constantly disseminate information to members of their lineage on projects being addressed,” he said.
