She emphasised the importance of peace, hard work, and discipline in transforming the nation into an egalitarian society.

The vice chancellor gave the charge while answering questions from LEADERSHIP after a working visit to the Okuku campus of the institution.

Bassey encouraged students to ask themselves what role they can play in transforming the institution and the nation.

“As a student, ask yourself, what role can I play in the transformation of the institution to better the nation?

” How can I contribute my quota towards transformation of the society? How can I be a good example to my colleagues, how can I build the Nigeria of my dream?

“All you need is a willing heart to transform UNICROSS and Nigeria to a better society where we can all live in peace and harmony, notwithstanding our religious and ethnic affinity.

“From our little corners, we can each be a light to build the nation.” The VC maintained.

She assured students and staff that the university management is working hard to provide better facilities, including lecture halls, offices, and hostel accommodations.

The VC praised students for their solidarity and support to four students of the institution who were recently involved in an auto crash and were quickly rushed to the hospital for medical attention without waiting for the university management and students ‘ families.

The VC appealed to lecturers to see students as their sisters and brothers, children and relatives, and treat with care and discipline.

She thanked the Cross River State government and students for their support in the university’s progress.

In response, dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Peter Ujong,  thanked the VC for her visit and pledged that staff and students would uphold diligence and integrity.
