A strong pillar of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Alumni Association, Comrade Ibrahim Hashim Abdullahi has expressed delight that the institution will now have a global outlook to enjoy all privileges and opportunities available to students and lecturers in conventional universities.
Hashim while speaking with journalists yesterday in Bauchi said that with the bill that now scaled its second reading ATBU would become a conventional University as against its hitherto status of a specialised institution of technology.
It could be recalled that the senator representing Bauchi Bauchi South senatorial district, Shehu Buba Umar sponsored the bill to change the ATBU status from a specialized institution of technology to a conventional one to accommodate more courses.
Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi who is the current chairman of Bauchi State Students’ Consultative Forum explained that the move would afford ATBU the opportunity to absorb arts and social science students from its catchment areas, avail them with the golden opportunities to pursue courses in fields of their own choice.
