Veritas Varsity Emerges Champion At National Policy Competition

Two students of Software Engineering Department  at Veritas University, Abuja Anigbogu Olivia Nneka and Joshua Okwoli have emerged Winners of The Policy Challenge 2026, a prestigious national policy competition organized by the Future Pathways Development Initiative (FPDI).

A statement issued by Ben Agande, Head of Corporate Affairs and Communications of Veritas University said the competition attracted 1,371 expressions of interest and 322 policy submissions from students across 67 tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

Following a rigorous selection process involving proposal reviews, regional semifinals, and a highly competitive national grand finale, Team SMETrust (the Veritas University Team) secured First Position Nationwide.

The grand finale was held at the University of Ibadan.

The team’s winning proposal, the National SME Digital Compliance Interface (NSDCI), presented an innovative policy framework aimed at rebuilding trust in the Nigerian state by simplifying regulatory and tax compliance processes for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) through a unified digital platform.

As National Champions, Team SMETrust was awarded, Two million ( N2,000,000( Naira Cash Prize, a  Paid Policy Internship Opportunities within the FPDI Network, Additional prizes, recognition, and professional development opportunities and  National Recognition for Policy Innovation and Excellence.

The University said the achievement highlights the exceptional quality, innovation, and leadership potential of Veritas University students and underscores the University’s commitment to producing solution-driven graduates capable of addressing national development challenges.

The Vice Chancellor of Veritas University, Abuja, Rev Fr Prof. Hyacinth Ichoku  conhgratulated the Veritas Team for the feat and promised the University’s continued support to students.

“This is quite remarkable and is continuation of Veritas’ winning streaks at various national and international competitions. We are delighted that our students have continued to make us proud,” he said.
