Werder Bremen legend Aílton Gonçalves da Silva has advised Nigerian striker Victor Boniface to lose weight in order to regain his scoring touch. Boniface recently returned to training with Werder Bremen after undergoing rehabilitation for a knee injury sustained in January while with Bayer Leverkusen.
As he works towards a comeback, Aílton noted, “His belly is unbelievable. He absolutely has to lose weight. I don’t see him scoring any more goals for Werder this season.” Since joining Bremen on loan, Boniface has made 11 appearances, contributing two assists but is yet to find the back of the net. The pressure is on for Boniface to return to form as the season draws to a close.
