A businesswoman and content creator, Love Dooshima, who went viral with a review of a loaf of bread, has been released from police custody after being detained at the Zone 7 Police Headquarters in Abuja.

Human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, stated on his Facebook page on Tuesday that, “Ms Love Dooshima, the businesswoman who made a review about an unarmed bread has just been released from police custody at Zone 7 Police Headquarters,” adding that “Bon Bread lodged a complaint to the police against her.”

He explained that the situation escalated after she honoured a police invitation earlier in the week.

“We received a distress call this night that she honoured the police invitation since 12pm on Monday, April 20, 2026, but she was detained afterwards,” the statement said.

According to Effiong, concerned individuals moved to the police facility late at night to secure her release.

“I came to Zone 7 this night along with MamaPee and Randy-Peter Akah,” it added.

The release, he noted, followed high-level intervention.

“Following the intervention of the IGP, Tunji Disu, she has been released at 12:30 AM today, Tuesday, April 21, 2026. We will be back by daybreak,” he concluded.

LEADERSHIP recalls that the Nigeria Police Force invited Dooshima over allegations of cyberstalking, fraud, and mischief following a viral video about the shelf life of a loaf of bread.

The development was made public by social media influencer Lucky Udu, who shared a screenshot of the lady’s TikTok direct message and also commented on the matter in a video posted on Instagram on Sunday.

In the video, Udu said the creator had reached out to him after receiving the police invitation, saying, “How many of you saw the video of the bread lady I posted? So she reached out to me to say that she has just been invited to the Nigeria Police Force headquarters for cyberstalking and mischief.”

He further stated, “I have told this lady to keep in touch with me because a lot of Nigerians want to see how it goes.”

In a screenshot of her message shared online, the TikToker, who uses the handle @lovedooshimaa, confirmed she had been summoned to the Force Headquarters for questioning.

“Hello, good evening, my brother. I saw the video you made and how many followers you pulled for me… As at this moment I have received an invitation to police HQ to come for an interview because I have been reported for cyberstalking, fraud, mischief and so on,” she wrote.

The controversy began after a viral TikTok video in which the content creator raised concerns about a loaf of bread she claimed remained fresh for about two months after purchase, sparking debate on food safety and corporate accountability.

Reacting, Bon Bread said the claims had affected its reputation and disclosed that it had made efforts to reach the creator for clarification.

The company’s founder, Maria Abdulkadir, said, “I made a call to her because I wanted to understand where she got the bread from and how it could have lasted two months, as she claimed.”

She added that the situation escalated after attempts at engagement failed, noting that public reactions linked the allegation to the brand.

“We believe in freedom of speech and respect everyone’s right to express opinions. However, we stand firmly behind the safety and quality of our product,” she said, stressing that Bon Bread products are freshly baked and typically do not last beyond a few days without preservatives.
