A man who identified himself as a serving police officer with 26 years of service, Newton Isokpehi, has threatened to shoot anyone who records him while on duty, in a viral video circulating on social media.

In the clip, which surfaced online on Thursday, Isokpehi spoke in Pidgin English and issued threats against members of the public and any superior officer he claimed had authorised the filming of police officers on duty.

“Any day I’m on duty as a police officer, carrying my rifle and doing my job, let somebody come and video me… The number of you that I kill, he will be the one to bury all of you,” he said.

He also dared anyone to approach him with a camera while on duty, insisting he would react violently.

“If anyone is bold enough, just bring your camera… If you don’t do it right, I will clear everybody down, the whole bus, everybody around,” he added.

In the video, Isokpehi, who said he had served in the Nigeria Police Force for 26 years, expressed frustration over working conditions and welfare challenges faced by officers.

“I have served in the Nigerian Police Force for twenty-six years… We suffer every single day,” he said.

He also criticised what he described as poor welfare for officers, claiming many had sustained gunshot injuries in the line of duty.

“You think I was born like this? This is a gunshot wound… My whole body is covered with bullet wounds and gunshot scars,” he said.

The officer also claimed that the current Inspector-General of Police had begun addressing unpaid insurance and death benefits owed to families of deceased officers.

“Since this IG assumed office, he has started releasing their insurance and benefits,” he said.

The video, posted on his TikTok account “Newton isokpehi for life,” was later deleted, although the account remains active with other content still visible at the time of filing this report.

Public reaction to the video has been largely critical, with many users
