Ward Head Arrested For Receiving Stolen Motorcycles In Niger

Niger State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old ward head of Sabon-Danduru, Paiko in Paikoro local government area of Niger State, Hussaini Mohammed, for allegedly receiving stolen  motorcycles.

The police public relations officer (PPRO) of the command, Wasiu Abiodun said based on credible intelligence, police operatives attached to Paiko Division arrested Hussaini Mohammed, the ward head of Sabon-Danduru with Isah Umar, 20 years, of same village and Hussaini Ibrahim 25 years  of Bosso area, Minna.

He said earlier Hussaini Ibrahim was arrested for stealing two Jincheng motorcycles from Tudun-Fulani area of Minna.

The PPRO said Hussaini later   led the police team to Isah Umar at Danduru village, Paiko for aiding in the theft of the motorcycles, and during interrogation, the two suspects confessed to the crime and claimed that they stole about four motorcycles with one Nafiu presently at large, and gave it to one Junaidu also at large who sold them to the ward head, Hussaini Mohammed.

„They further confessed that they do sell the motorcycles at the rate of N200,000 and sometimes N150,000 to ward‘s head,“ the police spokesman said.

He explained that the receiver was later arrested with the recovery of 26 motorcycle number plates and one fuel tank.

„The ward head confessed that he buys such motorcycles and he usually retrieves the number plates before re-selling,“ he added.

The PPRO said the case is under investigation at SCID Minna, and all suspects will be arraigned in court for prosecution as soon as the investigation is concluded.
