The Women at Risk International Foundation (WARIF) is once again leading the charge against gender-based violence (GBV) with the 6th annual Global WARIF No Tolerance March (NTMarch).

This year’s march, themed “UNiTE to End Violence Against Women and Girls,” aligns with the 33rd anniversary of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a campaign aimed at ending violence against women and girls worldwide.

Since its inception in 2019, the NTMarch has grown into a global movement, rallying thousands of participants, including men, women, youth, celebrities, and influencers, to say “No Tolerance” to rape, sexual violence, and gender inequality. The 2024 edition will take place on three continents, with marches scheduled in Lagos, Abuja, and Ibadan in Nigeria; Johannesburg in South Africa; Frankfurt, London, and Manchester in Europe; and New York, Houston, Minnesota, and Washington, D.C., in North America.

Proceeds from the march will directly support survivors of rape and sexual violence through free services provided at WARIF Rape Crisis Centres. These services include forensic medical examinations, treatment, psychosocial counselling, and essential social welfare support like shelter and legal aid.

Founder of WARIF, Dr. Kemi DaSilva-Ibru, in a press statement, emphasized the critical importance of collective action: “This campaign reminds us that change begins with all of us. Ending violence against women and girls requires bold and consistent actions from every sector of society. Together, we must unite, invest, and implement sustainable solutions to break this devastating cycle of abuse.”
