Amid the problem of water scarcity in Minna, the Niger State capital, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has engaged consultants to assess water facilities within the metropolis as part of efforts to improve its supply and strengthen the infrastructure.
The commissioner for Water Resources, Engr. Farouk Umaru Audi, who guided the consultants on an inspection tour of some key water facilities in Minna, explained that the initiative aligned with the administration’s commitment to revitalising the sector.
He said the assessment was to determine the current state of facilities, identify operational challenges and recommend practical solutions to enhance water supply.
The commissioner noted that the mission and vision of Governor Bago was to ensure that every resident of the state has access to clean and safe drinking water.
He added that the engagement of consultants demonstrates the government’s seriousness in addressing water shortages affecting some communities.
He further stated that the consultants were expected to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the facilities, including treatment plants, reservoirs, and distribution networks, to provide professional recommendations to guide government interventions.
While assuring the residents that the state government remained committed to improving water infrastructure across Niger State, he emphasised that the assessment would serve as a critical step toward achieving a sustainable and reliable water supply for the people.
