The Sa’adu Zungur Foundation’s Board of Trustees (BoT) has elected Alhaji Muhammad Kari, the Waziri of Bauchi and former managing director of NICON Insurance, as its new chairman.

The foundation’s spokesperson, Dr. Adamu Muhammad Hamid, confirmed the development in Bauchi after yesterday’s election at the BoT’s executive meeting.

He said the new chairman is expected to be pivotal in steering the foundation’s governance, setting its strategic direction, and ensuring that its duties and objectives are effectively carried out.

Hamid, who is also the head of the Information Management and Social Sciences Department at North-Eastern University, Gombe, added that the chairman’s responsibilities include setting the agenda for board meetings, presiding over deliberations, and fostering the board’s effective operation.

In the same meeting, the BoT announced the creation of standing committees to strengthen the foundation’s structure and ensure the successful execution of its goals.

According to him, the standing committees are fundamental to the foundation’s structure and to achieving its set goals.

Hamid said the committees include education and vocational, bursary and scholarship, commerce, competition, strategic planning, research and statistics, health, social development and information and communication.

Others, he said, are resource mobilisation, infrastructure development, linkage networks, publication, publicity, community engagement, and financial and general purpose.

He emphasised that these committees form the backbone of the foundation’s operational structure, enabling it to effectively deliver on its mandate.

The BoT of the Sa’adu Zungur Foundation is composed of technocrats, academics, religious and community leaders, traditional rulers, and politicians, all working together to advance the vision of the foundation.
