Residents of Gadanaji community in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State have appealed for urgent intervention after bandits demanded N10 million ransom for the release of 11 residents abducted during a deadly attack.

Some residents of the community, who spoke with our correspondent on Monday, called on government authorities, security agencies and well-meaning Nigerians to intervene, saying the affected families are unable to raise the ransom demanded by the abductors.

LEADERSHIP recalls that the victims were kidnapped during a midnight raid on April 9, 2026, when heavily armed bandits invaded the community, killed one resident and abducted 11 others, including women and children.

A resident, Francis, disclosed that the abductors had already contacted families of the victims and were insisting on N10 million before their release.

“The families are helpless because they cannot raise such an amount. We are begging the government and security agencies to help rescue our people,” he said.

Another resident, Musa Isaac, lamented the growing fear in the community, noting that several families had fled to neighbouring villages over concerns of a possible repeat attack.

“Our people are living in fear. Many families have left the community because they are afraid the bandits may return,” he said.
