The Tinubu AMBO Support Group has debunked the rumour making the rounds that it collected N100 million to endorse the candidature of Dr Kadri Hamzat as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos for the 2027 general election.

The group, in a statement signed by its head of Public Affairs, Mr Wale Balogun, said the endorsement was not financially induced.

It said, “Our attention has been drawn to a rumour alleging that Dr Seyi Bamgbade, director -general of the Tinubu AMBO Support Group, collected the sum of N100 million through Hon. James Abiodun Faleke to declare support for Dr Obafemi Kadri Hamzat.

“We wish to state clearly and unequivocally that this allegation is false, baseless, and entirely unfounded. At no time did Dr Seyi Bamgbade, a tireless grassroots mobiliser, receive any money from Hon. Faleke or from Dr Obafemi Kadri Hamzat in exchange for political support.

For the record, Dr Bamgbade has consistently demonstrated loyalty and commitment within the progressive family.

As Director General of the Tinubu AMBO Support Group, he stood firmly with former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode from his emergence in 2015 and throughout efforts toward his second-term campaign, with his team playing a pioneering role.”

He added that former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode officially conveyed his congratulations to Dr Obafemi Kadri Hamzat on his emergence as the consensus governorship candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State for the 2027 gubernatorial election. This development further underscores the unity and alignment within the progressive fold.”

He added that, as a committed progressive who strongly supports the leadership of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Renewed Hope Agenda, as well as the ongoing mobilisation toward his re-election in 2027, Bamgbade remains guided by the principle of party supremacy.

“Once the party takes a decision, alignment becomes imperative in the collective interest of unity, stability, and progress,” he said.

He urged the general public and party faithful to disregard the misleading rumour, saying it is clearly designed to distract and sow division.

“We remain focused, disciplined, and committed to the progressive ideals of our great party as we work towards victory in all forthcoming general elections,” he said.
