The Presidency has responded to the Easter Sunday message delivered by Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church (CGCC), Pastor Tunde Bakare, describing it as objective and constructive, even as it noted areas of disagreement with the cleric’s views.

Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala made the remarks in a post on his official X handle, affirming that the administration welcomes public commentary and considers it part of a healthy democratic process.

“Pastor Tunde Bakare’s sermon and speech delivered this morning in form of a message to @officialABAT is quite objective,” Bwala stated.

He added that, “He gave his general opinion on events and decisions of government; he critiqued certain policies and applauded some; he further offered his suggestions on the way forward.”

Bwala noted that while the administration differs with some of the positions expressed by Bakare, it respects his right to voice his opinion.

“Although we differ with him in some areas and positions, we respect his right to say his mind, and assure him—as with many Nigerians—that President Tinubu is determined to deliver on the promise to the Nigerian people,” he said.

He also acknowledged that Pastor Bakare recognised some of the strides and achievements recorded by the current administration.
The presidential aide concluded by extending Easter greetings to Nigerians, saying, “Happy Easter and best wishes to the good people of Nigeria.”

LEADERSHIP reports that Pastor Bakare, a former presidential aspirant and consistent voice in national discourse, had earlier said the country was too delicate for the kind of politics being played by President Tinubu.

He alleged that such was being played by the President through weakening of established institutions and subjugating the people to have his way.
The fiery cleric cautioned Tinubu against “playing God,” noting that his administration was steering the nation off course.

Bakare further lamented that the country was descending into tyranny and brazen abuse of power, adding that the legislature, a bastion of democracy has become ‘spineless and collapsing’ under the watch of the President.
