The apex northern socio-cultural organisation, Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) says it has no preferred presidential candidate and would not support any political party in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking with LEADERSHIP Weekend in Kaduna yesterday, the forum’s national publicity secretary, Prof. T. A. Muhammad-Baba, said it had never been in the tradition of the forum to endorse any particular candidate or party for elections.
He said the forum focusses on identifying and promoting whatever advances the welfare of people of the North and Nigeria, irrespective of party affiliation.
He added, “The ACF does not have any “preferred” candidate as such. The forum as its name suggests brings together a multiplicity of ideological, religious and other tendencies but united by a common interest in affairs and issues that affect or in any way touches on the interests of the various peoples of the North within the context of the Nigerian federation.
“Being a conglomeration of a diversity of interests therefore, the forum focusses on identifying and promoting whatever advances the welfare of citizens of the North and of Nigeria, irrespective of party affiliation. To this extent, the forum concerns itself only with analyses of public policies and campaign promises in these regards, as a sacred guiding principle. It is left for the electorate to use same analyses to make decisions upon which to vote for candidates or parties.”
