Abia State commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu has called for the weeding out of any officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) caught tarnishing the image of the corps.
He made the call when the state’s sector commander of the corps, Ngozi Ezeoma paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Umuahia, the state capital.
Kanu noted that such disciplinary action is not only necessary to ensure safety on the roads, but also to protect the integrity and image of the corps.
The commissioner assured the commander that the government would collaborate with the corps to enforce compliance to traffic rules in the state without exception.
His words, “In view of this, Governor Alex Otti has directed that vehicles of any government appointees who drives against traffic rules must be impounded.”
Furthermore, Kanu said the government would continue to collaborate with the sector and to identify with the corps during its forthcoming 37th anniversary celebration.
Earlier in an address, the commander narrated that they came to solicit the collaboration of the government and to intimate it of the celebration.
Ezeoma appealed for the inclusion of officers of the corps in the government’s harmonized taskforce to further help to ensure sanity on roads.
