The Administrator of the National Judicial Institute, Abuja, Hon. Justice Babatunde Adejumo (rtd.), has stated that the 2025 All Nigeria Judges’ Conference aims to build a confident and independent Judiciary.

He said it is a biennial gathering of Judges, which provides a unique platform for judicial officers from across the country to engage in robust discussions and exchange ideas on issues that are central to the administration of justice.

At a pre-conference media briefing on Thursday, the NJI Administrator submitted that “confidence in the judiciary is the cornerstone of democracy”.

“It is the assurance that justice will be dispensed fairly, impartially, and without fear or favour.

“A judiciary that commands confidence strengthens the rule of law, protects fundamental rights and upholds the values of equity and fairness”, Justice Adejumo posited.

At this year’s conference, Justice Adejumo suggested that judges should explore ways to reinforce judicial independence, uphold ethical standards, and ensure that the courts remain accessible, transparent, and responsive to the needs of the people.

The Administrator stated that NJI, as the training arm of the judiciary, remains committed to equipping judicial officers and their supporting staff with the knowledge, skills, and values required to meet the challenges of modern adjudication, through capacity building, research, and continuous education.

He added that the institute also strives to ensure that judges are not only competent but also courageous in the discharge of their duties.

With the approval of the Chief Justice of Nigeria and the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the National Judicial Institute, Honourable Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, the Administrator disclosed that this year’s conference theme is “Building a confident Judiciary.”
