The vice chancellor (VC) of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, Prof Maduebibisi Iwe has said that the management has been succeeding in transforming the university to an entrepreneurial institution.
Iwe announced this yesterday during a pre-convocation press briefing for the 12th convocation ceremony of the university at the university’s conference hall.
“Our bread and biscuit factory, water production and guest house outfit are steadily growing and giving name to our university.
“Our Colleges of Animal Science and Animal Production, and Crop and Soil Science for instance are all vigorously driving a level of animal and crop production that is consistent with our vision,” he said.
According to him, the management is also equipping the laboratory with state-of-the-art equipment and will continue to do so for agriculture, sciences, engineering and technology.
The VC explained that in the area of Information and Communication Technology, the management was increasing the university’s bandwidth and “almost achieving full coverage by the end of the year.”
“We have continued to also engage in important lineages with like-minded people across the globe to ensure that we continue to grow and make impacts as a specialised university.”
The 6th VC of the university further maintained that at present, the management is having relationships with more than 62 universities across the globe.
