A forum within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed support for the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, praising his handling of the party’s internal crisis.
The group, under the aegis of the PDP Aspirants Forum, made its position known on Monday during a world press conference in Abuja, where it described Wike’s role as demonstrating “sound leadership acumen.”
“Our forum has observed with great relief the successful conduct of the National Convention of our great party last Sunday. We observe the cooperation shown by various leaders of the party towards ensuring that the convention is held without much ado,” the forum said.
It also appreciated stakeholders and members of the party across the federation, particularly Wike, describing him as a leader with the capacity to unite the party and drive its revival.
“We have to particularly appreciate the leadership acumen of Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and national leader of PDP. Our leader has shown that he has the wherewithal to rally our party together and forge a path towards revival.
“As we congratulate the Mohammed-led National Working Committee of our party, we also declare that where Wike leads, we follow,” Adams Abonu, convener of the forum, stated.
The forum called on stakeholders and supporters who may still have reservations to rally behind Wike to restore harmony within the party.
“With this convention successfully held and recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), we now have a viable platform to aspire to represent the interests of our people across Nigeria,” Abonu said.
He added that the forum would embark on solidarity visits to party leaders to appreciate their contributions and sacrifices.
