Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, yesterday, explained the reason for the delay in reconstituting the state executive council almost a month after it was dissolved.

At a review meeting with permanent secretaries in the Government House Lafia, Governor Sule attributed the delay to the fact that the State House of Assembly is currently on recess.

The governor had in January 3, dissolved the council and sacked the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barrister Muhammed Ubandoma-Aliyu.

He, however, did not give the reason for the dissolution of the council and removal of Ubandoma-Aliyu.
While updating the permanent secretaries on the activities of his administration, however, the governor said the list of commissioner nominees would only be presented when the assembly resumes early February.

“It is only at the beginning of next month that the assembly will resume. It is only then that we will be able to submit our list of prospective commissioners to them.

“As far as we are concerned, nothing stops. We have to keep going as a government, especially at a time that a lot is expected of us to ensure that we give back to the good people of Nasarawa State,” he said
Our correspondent reports that the delay in reconstituting the cabinet and appointment of an SSG had thrown up speculations in the state’s political circle.

Some names, including that of a member of the dissolved council, the attorney general and commissioner for justice, Barrister Labaran Magaji, were being bandied as possible replacements for the sacked SSG.

Barrister Magaji had to write a rejoinder denying the speculation to be able to diffuse the situation.
