Governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general election in Rivers State, Beatrice Itubo, has revealed that members of the South-South Youth Initiative (SSYI) were instrumental in her decision to withdraw her appeal against Governor Siminalayi Fubara from the Supreme Court.
Itubo disclosed this on Saturday when the SSYI leadership paid her a courtesy visit at her country home in Ogbakiri community in the Emohua local government area of the state.

The LP governorship candidate, who dismissed reports of bribery for her to either continue or withdraw the suit, condemned the level of ethnic coloration in the politics of the state.
She insisted that being a political jobber does not mean that she would not accept the opportunity to serve the state if given.

Itubo encouraged everybody to know their boundaries and not venture into what is not their right in order to sustain peace in the state.

The LP candidate charged the youths to always hold the government responsible, not necessarily through protest but by meaningful engagement.

Earlier in his address, SSYI National President, Imeade Saviour Oscar, commended Itubo for responding to their request to withdraw the Supreme Court suit against Fubara.
