A 25-year-old housewife, Salamatu Danjuma, from Nadabo village in Tafawa Balewa local government area of Bauchi State, has been arrested for allegedly killing her husband following a domestic dispute.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the couple had marital conflict over the custody of the wife’s six-year-old daughter from a previous marriage.

Initially, after discussions with her husband suggesting that the child would be welcomed into their home, her husband later changed his mind, leading to escalating tensions.

The situation took a tragic turn when during a heated argument, Salamatu allegedly grabbed a knife from their bedroom and fatally attacked her husband.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Bauchi State Command, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, stated in a press release on Monday night that the suspect was apprehended on Monday, February 24, 2025.

He noted that the Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to conduct a thorough and discreet investigation into the matter.

According to Police spokesman, upon completion of the investigation, appropriate legal action will be taken.
