A youth entrepreneur and brand influencer, Obianuju Genevieve Chukwuma, has lauded the emergence of Wigwe University in the Nigeria’s education landscape, saying it will rekindle young Nigerians’ interests in higher education in the country.
Obianuju, who stated this in an interview with journalists on Tuesday in Abuja, said the new university will redefine education in Nigeria as it was conceived to provide solution-driven education as obtainable in developed climes.
Recall that the owners of Wigwe University have recently announced that the school, which will commence admission in the 2024/2025 academic session, was designed to be “an innovative venture, emphasizing entrepreneurship, technology, and global impact to contribute uniquely to Nigeria’s higher education landscape.”
Wigwe University, established by the Group Managing Director of Access Bank, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, and located in Isiokpo, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, prides itself in being “connected” and “experiential learning”.
The university touts deploying technology in managing all student activities, including course delivery, learning, planning and management, student journey management, and real-time student experience measurement to keep the university ahead of others.
Reacting to the vision and concept behind the institution, Obianuju Chukwuma said the privately-owned university “is beyond the usual and would rekindles Nigerian students’ faith in our higher education system, especially those yearning to school abroad.
“Once upon a visionary journey, Herbert Wigwe, the GCE of Access Corporation, crafted a tale of education and innovation by introducing Wigwe University—a $500 million venture in Nigeria’s Rivers State.
“Exciting times ahead for education in Nigeria, and kudos to Herbert Wigwe for spearheading the transformative initiative of Wigwe University.
“Wigwe University stands out by offering a curriculum tailored to the future of jobs. Leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship are seamlessly integrated from the first year, providing students with a holistic and practical education.
“The hybrid learning system, blending online and physical components, ensures flexibility and efficiency, with visiting professors contributing from around the globe.
“Cheers to Herbert Wigwe for his commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders and reshaping the landscape of higher education in Nigeria,” she stated.
