The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has defended the performance of the FCT Administration, insisting that the government has followed through on its promises through the delivery of key infrastructure projects across Abuja and its satellite towns.

Speaking during a media chat on Monday, Wike said residents of the FCT could visibly confirm the impact of ongoing and completed projects under the current administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Whatever promise we make, we will implement it,” the minister said.

He listed several completed and ongoing road projects, noting that development efforts were not limited to the Abuja city centre but extended to area councils and satellite communities.

According to him, the administration has prioritised projects in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and Orozo, while the 2026 budget will focus on Kuje, Gwagwalada, and possibly Kwali Area Councils.

Wike disclosed that the 17-kilometre Deidei road and the 14-kilometre Karsana road have been completed and are awaiting commissioning.

He added that the Bwari–Kubwa road would be completed before the end of the year, while the Arab Road project is also scheduled for commissioning within the year.

The minister further revealed that the Tundun Madaki road linking the airport corridor has been completed, while the road to Zuba is expected to be finished by December.

He said the first section of the Kuje–Gwagwalada road has been completed, with work on the second section expected to conclude this month, while the Airport Junction–Kuje road has already been commissioned.

“The job has been done and it looks very beautiful. We are satisfied and fulfilled with the work that has been done there,” he said.

Wike also cited the relocation of mechanics from unauthorised areas and the construction of residential quarters for judges as part of the administration’s fulfilled commitments.

Responding to criticism, he maintained that ongoing transformation in the FCT demonstrates clear progress, though he acknowledged that the administration has not completed all its goals.

“If you are really staying in Abuja would you say this government has not made any impact? We haven’t done 100 per cent, but there’s hope,” he added.
