This commitment was expressed during a courtesy visit from an AMCON delegation led by the managing director Mr. Gbenga Alade.

Wike who extended his congratulations to Alade and his team, who were appointed by President Bola Tinubu, urged them to keep focus on their critical responsibilities.

“Mr President believes in you. He thinks you can make a difference. For every opportunity you have, say that this was my contribution while I was there. It is very key. This country must succeed.

“You were brought there because there are challenges. If there are no challenges, nobody will appoint you. There are challenges for you to solve,” he said.

While reflecting on his journey in the FCT Ministry, the minister noted that the journey has not been easy but that he is determined to succeed.

He stated the need for leadership beyond ethnic and religious divisions, stressing that leaders must step on toes to succeed.

Wike elaborated on the prevalent issues in land administration, describing it as where they see corruption.

“People think that you are coming to share land when they appoint you as FCT Minister… You come to the office; everybody is land, land, land. Nothing more.

“We can not continue in that way. Somebody must have to take the bull by the horns. That is all about leadership.

“You may not be right all the time, but you must take a decision and be firm; that’s the only way this country can survive,” underscoring the need for decisive action amid challenges,” he said.

In response, AMCON MD Gbenga Alade appreciated Wike’s support and highlighted the agency’s vital role in stabilizing Nigeria’s banking sector since its establishment in 2010.

“The federal government founded AMCON to take over the bad loans from the banks, administer the loans and all the assets underlining them, and manage them on behalf of the Federal Government,” he explained.

Alade commended Wike’s efforts in infrastructure development in the FCT and stated that the collaboration between AMCON and FCTA could bolster both entities’ goals.
