The 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, has charged Catholic Reverend Sisters of the Daughters of Divine Love, Emene, Enugu State to continue to work for humanity whether their efforts were appreciated or not.
The former Anambra State governor gave the charge when he visited the construction site of their College of Nursing Sciences, Emene-Enugu in Enugu State on Friday.
Eulogising their efforts in the College of Nursing Sciences project, Obi told them that with the College of Nursing Sciences project, they were contributing to the most crucial aspect of humanity which he described as “health”.
Obi during the visit presented a cheque of N20 million to the management of the College in support of the college project.
After making the cheque presentation Obi was taken to a another particular gigantic structure of the college also under construction which the engineer put the estimate for the completion at about N350 million.
After inspecting the structure, Obi made a promise that he would support them to make sure that the building was completed.
“I know you are not expecting any personal benefit from what you are doing here. You are just doing it for humanity.
“So, never mind if anyone thanks you or not, continue to do what you are doing because with what you are doing, you are contributing to the most crucial aspect of humanity which is health”, Obi told the Rev. Sisters.
The superior/ Mother-general of the Daughters of the Divine Love and proprietress of the College, Rev. Sister Mary Anastasia Dike praised Obi’s commitment towards transforming Nigeria and improving the health of the public, particularly the less privileged.
She said, “This is a man who always wants to impact humanity.
“He is not the richest person in Nigeria but he is always supporting anything that helps the less privileged; supporting anything health everywhere in Nigeria.
“Nigeria is his project anywhere he goes, even in Overseas. He is a man everyone should emulate. He is patriotism personified”, Rev Sister Dike added.
She also stated that Obi met them when they started the college project at its foundation and had since then supported the project.
