The World Bank has appointed Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State as rural development ambassador in recognition of his efforts to engender growth and development in rural communities across the state.

The commissioner for rural development and special duties, Farouk Mustapha, disclosed this while addressing journalists in Bauchi.

Last year, Governor Mohammed with support from the World Bank and French Development Agency through the Rural Access and Agriculture Marketing Project, inaugurated  multi-billion naira road construction projects across the state.

He said the letter confirming the World Bank’s appointment of Governor Mohammed had been transmitted through the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.

The commissioner explained that the appointment recognised the governor’s transformation of rural communities.
