World Teachers’ Day: Alli Seeks Prioritisation Of Educators’ Welfare

As the world marked World Teachers’ Day, the senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Sharafadeen Alli, stressed the need for increased support for teachers, calling on governments at all levels to prioritise policies that will improve their welfare, training, and working conditions.

He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that will uplift the teaching profession in Oyo State and Nigeria at large.

In a statement signed by his special adviser on Media, Akeem Abas, the lawmaker described teachers as invaluable assets to the nation, lauding their dedication to shaping the country’s future through education.

Alli emphasised teachers’ critical role in moulding young minds and advancing society.

He pointed out that educators were not just transmitters of knowledge but also mentors and role models whose impact often transcended the classroom.

According to him, teachers’ commitment to nurturing future leaders is the foundation of national development and growth.”

Alli stressed the need for increased teacher support, calling on governments at all levels to prioritise policies that improve their welfare, training and working conditions.

“Our teachers deserve nothing less than the best as they continue to equip our youths with the skills, values and knowledge necessary to thrive in an ever-changing world”, he noted.

He acknowledged teachers’ challenges, particularly in developing countries, and urged that more resources be dedicated to the education sector.

The lawmaker called on stakeholders to collaborate to ensure teachers receive the recognition, respect, and compensation they deserve.

He commended all teachers across the globe, encouraging them to continue in their pursuit of excellence in education.
