The Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Tuesday inaugurated the seven-person committee constituted to deliver support for survivors of the Woro terrorist attack.
The governor said that the mandate of the committee is to engage directly with the affected families, community leaders, and residents to identify their most pressing needs—whether rehabilitation, medical support, livelihood restoration, infrastructure rebuilding, or psychosocial care.
Addressing members of the committee on Tuesday evening, the governor
again condemned the act and promised justice for the victims and survivors of the attack.
“Today, my heart remains heavy as we gather in the shadow of the horrible terrorist attack that struck Woro on 3rd February 2026. At least 75 precious lives or more were cruelly taken, while homes and families were shattered by the mindless terrorists who sought to impose their warped ideology on the rest of us.
“We will leave no stone unturned in pursuing justice for our people and strengthen security across our state.
We are already coordinating with federal authorities and security agencies to ensure this evil does not ever happen again.
“Kwara stands with you. Together, we will heal, rebuild, and emerge stronger. We shall not bow to fear or intimidation of any deranged ideology,” AbdulRazaq said.
The committee, he added, is expected to serve as the bridge between the people and government, ensuring that the interventions are community-driven, transparent, and effective.
The chairman of the committee and Kiwozi of Kugiji, Hon. Ahmed Ibn Muhammad, assured that the committee would do everything humanly possible to link up with the affected people with a view to addressing their needs.
The inauguration was attended by cabinet members, Kaiama thought leaders, and top civil servants.
The governor had on Friday announced the composition of the committee in a statement signed by his chief press secretary,Rafiu Ajakaye.
The committee, which has four weeks to carry out its assignment, will interface with the community leaders on rebuilding efforts, areas of need of the survivors, and other outstanding issues.
Other members are the vice chairman of the local government, Aisha Abubakar Sadiq, Alh Abubakar Mora, Woro village head, Alh Umar Bio Saliu; and a representative each of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP); and a representative of the office of the secretary to the state government who should be a female.
