Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has called on Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu for a second term, arguing that continuity is necessary to sustain ongoing economic and security reforms.

Bello, who stated this yesterday in a statement, said Tinubu inherited significant economic and security challenges and had taken difficult decisions aimed at addressing longstanding problems and putting the country on a path to recovery.

He argued that major reforms required time and consistency, saying a change in direction midway could affect efforts to address the country’s challenges.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu deserves the support of Nigerians because he has demonstrated the courage to take responsibility at a difficult period in our national history,” Bello said.

The former governor said the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda could provide a framework for strengthening the economy, improving institutions and expanding opportunities for young Nigerians.

He also praised Tinubu’s political experience and contribution to Nigeria’s democratic development, describing him as a leader with considerable experience in navigating the country’s political landscape.

On security, Bello commended efforts by the Federal Government to tackle insecurity through intelligence-led operations and cooperation between federal and state authorities.

While acknowledging the challenges confronting Nigerians, he urged citizens and political leaders to put national interest ahead of partisan considerations.

Bello said the 2027 election should be decided on issues including stability, policy continuity and the need to consolidate ongoing reforms.

“President Tinubu should be allowed to continue the work he has begun. Nigeria needs stability, consistency and leadership that is prepared to take difficult decisions in the interest of future generations,” he said.

Bello has previously expressed support for Tinubu’s re-election bid, maintaining that continuity would give the administration more time to implement and consolidate its policies.
