Yahaya Bello Clinches APC Kogi Central Senatorial Ticket with Over 72,000 Votes

Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has emerged as the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election for the Kogi Central Senatorial District, recording a sweeping victory with a total of 72,399 votes.

The primary election, held across the five local government areas in the district, witnessed massive participation by party delegates and supporters.

Announcing the results, the Returning Officer, Muhammed Sadiq, commended delegates for their peaceful conduct throughout the exercise, describing the process as orderly and transparent.

According to the final results announced, Bello secured the highest number of votes across all five local government areas:

* Adavi – 18,341
* Ajaokuta – 10,298
* Ogori/Magongo – 5,146
* Okehi – 8,943
* Okene – 29,621

This brought his total votes to 72,399.

His closest challenger, Ibrahim Yakubu Adoke, polled a total of 319 votes, distributed as follows:

* Adavi – 67
* Ajaokuta – 147
* Ogori/Magongo – 63
* Okehi – 25
* Okene – 13

Another aspirant, Momoh Yusuf Obaro, scored a total of 188 votes, distributed as follows:

* Adavi – 14
* Ajaokuta – 76
* Ogori/Magongo – 65
* Okehi – 25
* Okene – 8

With the victory, Bello becomes the APC candidate for the Kogi Central Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In his acceptance speech, Bello commended delegates for their peaceful conduct and described the exercise as a reflection of the APC’s ability to organise a transparent and orderly election.

He also praised party officials for ensuring strict adherence to the rules guiding the primary.

Bello called on other aspirants to join hands with him to bring development to the district.
