In a decisive act of compassion and commitment to his constituents, Hon. Ja’afaru Yakubu, Member representing Bali/Gassol Federal Constituency, has fulfilled his pledge of ₦3 million in financial assistance to fish traders who suffered devastating losses in a recent market fire.

The inferno, which swept through the fish trading section of the market, left dozens of traders grappling with the destruction of goods, stalls, and equipment — many of whom rely solely on daily trade to support their families. The incident disrupted economic activity and cast a shadow of uncertainty over the livelihoods of those affected.

During a condolence visit shortly after the tragedy, Hon. Yakubu met with community leaders and victims of the fire, offering words of solidarity and a firm promise to provide financial support to aid their recovery. That promise has now been honoured, with the ₦3 million disbursed through his official representatives to the affected traders.

Community members have widely praised the financial intervention, which they have described as timely and transformative. Beneficiaries have expressed deep appreciation for the support, noting that it will enable them to restock their businesses, repair damaged infrastructure, and regain economic stability.

“This support is not just about money — it’s about being seen, heard, and helped when it matters most,” said one trader who received assistance. “Hon. Ja’afaru has shown that leadership is about action, not just words.”

Hon. Yakubu’s gesture is consistent with his broader approach to governance, which emphasises direct engagement with constituents and swift response to emergencies. Over the years, he has been recognised for championing grassroots development, youth empowerment, and social welfare initiatives across the constituency.

As the traders begin the process of rebuilding, Hon. Yakubu’s support catalyses recovery and is a symbol of hope. It also reinforces the importance of responsive leadership in times of crisis — leadership that listens, acts, and delivers.

The people of the constituency continue to rally behind Hon. Yakubu, whose actions have once again demonstrated that public service, rooted in empathy and integrity, can make a lasting impact.
