Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has approved the appointment of Professor Ademola Popoola as the chief medical director of Thomas Adewumi Teaching Hospital, Omu-Aran in Irepodun local government area of the state.

Popoola’s appointment followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Kwara State Government and Thomas Adewumi University, Oko, which officially converted the General Hospital, Omu-Aran, into the University’s teaching hospital.

The state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina El-Imam, noted that Popoola’s appointment represents a strategic step by the state government to provide visionary leadership that would drive the hospital towards global standards in medical training, research, and service delivery.

El-Imam further described the appointment as a bold initiative which would not only elevate Thomas Adewumi University’s medical training programmes, but also expand access to quality healthcare services for the people of Kwara. State and beyond.
