The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari, has described Nigerian youths as a critical constituency in the party’s efforts to communicate the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Yari said young Nigerians would play a central role in taking the message of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda to communities across the country through social media, grassroots networks and other youth-driven platforms.

The campaign director-general spoke on Thursday when he received Seyi Tinubu, son of President Tinubu and a youth mobilisation advocate, who visited to congratulate him on his appointment and discuss collaboration on youth engagement ahead of the 2027 elections.

Seyi Tinubu was accompanied by the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande.

Yari said young Nigerians were no longer merely the future of the country but an important force in its present political and social landscape.

“Young people are not just the future of this country, they are the present. If we are going to tell the true story of what this administration has achieved, from infrastructure to the economy to security, it is our youth who will carry that message furthest, fastest, and most convincingly.”

He said the influence of young Nigerians was particularly significant because of their familiarity with contemporary communication platforms.

“They understand the language of today’s Nigeria in a way that no press statement alone ever could.”

According to Yari, his meeting with Seyi Tinubu centred on strengthening collaboration and developing a broader youth mobilisation structure ahead of the election.

“My engagement with Seyi Tinubu today was about building bridges. He has consistently demonstrated genuine commitment to youth empowerment, and that is exactly the kind of energy this campaign needs.”

Yari said the APC campaign would seek to move beyond simply asking young Nigerians to vote for the party, urging them instead to actively communicate the administration’s programmes and achievements.

“We are not just asking young Nigerians to vote, we are asking them to become ambassadors of the Renewed Hope story in their communities, online and offline.”

He also disclosed that the Presidential Campaign Council was finalising a nationwide youth outreach framework that would deploy social media, community networks and grassroots political structures to communicate the administration’s programmes.

The initiative, he said, would also focus on countering misinformation by equipping young Nigerians with information they could share across various platforms.

“Every young Nigerian with a phone and a voice is a potential messenger for this administration’s impact. Our job is to equip them with the facts and the platform to tell that story authentically.”

Yari commended Seyi Tinubu for the visit, describing his engagement with youth empowerment as an indication of confidence in the campaign council.

He also acknowledged Olawande for his continued partnership on initiatives focused on youth engagement.

The APC campaign chief expressed optimism that collaboration between the campaign council and youth-focused stakeholders would strengthen the party’s grassroots visibility as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections intensify.

The meeting was attended by senior officials of the APC Presidential Campaign Council and members of Seyi Tinubu’s youth engagement team.
