Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, is poised to host the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) Extraordinary General Assembly on Monday, 23rd March 2026.
His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, the Governor of Bayelsa State, will officially open the assembly at the DSP Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall, Government House, Yenagoa.
Distinguished guests expected to attend include Mallam Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission; Hon. Bukola Olopade, Director General of the NSC; Senator Abdul Ningi, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports; and Hon. Kabiru Amadu, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Sports.
This Extraordinary General Assembly will gather Chairmen and Secretaries from all 36 State Football Associations and the FCT, alongside members of the NFF Executive Committee and Management. Representatives from various leagues, the Coaches Association, the Referees Association, and the Players’ Union will also be in attendance.
NFF President, Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON), will deliver a welcome address before the business session commences.
The business session will see the Congress discuss proposed amendments to the existing NFF Statutes, the NFF Electoral Code, and the Standing Orders of the General Assembly. Appointments for the NFF Electoral Committee, the NFF Electoral Appeals Committee, and the Independent Auditor of the NFF are also on the agenda.
Officials from FIFA, the global football governing body, and CAF, the continental governing body, have already arrived in Nigeria to observe the proceedings of the 2026 NFF Extraordinary General Assembly.
