The Yobe State House of Assembly has passed the 2026 Finance and Appropriation Bills presented by Governor Mai Mala Buni, approving a total budget of N515.53 billion for recurrent and capital expenditures.

The budget was passed following the adoption of the House Standing Committee on Finance and Appropriations’ report on the 2026 budget proposal.

Briefing journalists shortly after the passage, the vice chairman of the Committee, Hon. Mohammed Isa Bello, disclosed that N223.63 billion was approved for recurrent expenditure, while N291.90 billion was earmarked for capital projects across the state.

He explained that the House reduced the initial budget proposal by N51 million in order to ensure a more realistic, credible and achievable fiscal framework.

According to him, the 2026 budget places a strong emphasis on road construction, enhancing commercial activities, providing agricultural inputs to stimulate youth employment, and completing ongoing projects in various parts of the state.

He further urged Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) agencies to ensure prompt and full remittance of revenues, stressing that effective revenue mobilisation remains critical to the successful implementation of the budget and the delivery of more dividends of democracy to the people of Yobe State.
