The Yobe State House of Assembly has passed a resolution on the virement of N17 billion to augment some codes in the 2023 budget.
The House passed the resolution after receiving the report of its standing committee on finance and appropriation on the virement.
The chairman, House committee on finance and appropriation, Hon. Buba Ibrahim Kalallawa, said the virement which is an internal adjustment within some codes of the budget would not affect the size of the approved budget.
Kalallawa said the virement became necessary considering the high prices of goods and services which affected some codes in the 2023 budget.
According to him, the virement will enable the executive arm of government fund some newly established agencies in the health sector.
Presiding over the sitting, the speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Chiroma Buba Mashio, commended members for supporting the virement which he said would assist the executive to provide more dividends of democracy.
