The decision was prompted by the recent attacks by suspected herdsmen which led to the death of one Abubakar and the razing of over 140 houses where 1,686 persons were displaced in Fika local government area.

At a stakeholders’ meeting with the security agencies, it was agreed that to reduce crime and criminality in the councils, the use of motorcycles should be suspended.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the end of a meeting with the deputy governor, Hon Idi Barde Gubana, traditional leaders and security agencies, the commissioner of police (CP), Ahmed Garba, said 14 resolutions were reached at the meeting.

According to him, the state government and its partners agreed to suspend and control the use of motorcycles in Fika, Gujba, Gulani and Fune local government areas of the state, which were the front-line areas.
