The Yobe State Government, through the State Scholarship Board, has officially launched the 2025/2026 Domestic Students Scholarship/Bursary Programme.
The governor, Mai Mala Buni, also approved a 100 per cent increment across all categories of scholarship payments.
He said the gesture underscores his administration’s unwavering commitment to expanding educational opportunities and strengthening the academic aspirations of young people across the state.
At the event, the executive secretary of the Yobe State Scholarship Board, Dr Kagu Abubakar, commended Governor Buni’s transformative leadership, describing it as visionary and people-oriented.
According to him, the governor’s transparent reforms, consistent investments and institutional strengthening initiatives have repositioned the Scholarship Board for enhanced efficiency, accountability and better service delivery.
With the increase, Yobe State has asserted its position as one of Nigeria’s leading states in educational support, student welfare, and strategic investment in the future of its youth, ensuring that the next generation is better equipped, better supported, and better prepared for global competitiveness.
It would be recalled that Governor Buni had earlier approved the disbursement of scholarships and bursaries to 28,346 Yobe State indigenes currently studying in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
